The VoIP Voice Quality Tester incorporates testing of multiple sites in an automated fashion. The product provides rapid and comprehensive status of the voice quality on the IP network.

Main Features

All testing is done from a single location, there is no need to visit the remote test site as it only requires a simple client applet software installation in the remote location, and this software is sent via email.

Point to multipoint bi-directional testing.

Fully automated (no user intervention required), tests can be run over long periods of time.

VoIP-VQT is supplied either as a totally software based solution, or as a compact and portable tester with associate remote client applet software.

Can be used during commissioning tests or fault finding of the existing IP network.

VoIP-VQT Applications

VoIP-VQT can be used either in laboratory testing or performing diagnostics on existing VoIP networks.

Laboratory Tests

Used in laboratory conditions to verify the voice quality of the IP equipment under test.

Live Network Tests

Used in operational conditions in public networks to verify the average voice quality of the network over period of time.

To perform voice quality tests in a live network, remote client software is emailed to one or several remote locations (PCs).

A reference PESQ file is sent from the VoIP-VQT tester, and is recorded by the remote location’s client applet. The recorded degraded PESQ wave file is then re-transmitted as a data file, via the control channel to the VoIP-VQT for analysis. Similarly, a reference PESQ file is sent by the client applet from the remote location, and the degraded file is recorded by the VoIP-VQT tester. This allows the MOS for each direction to be calculated. Both the degraded files and the MOS score are stored for future reference or processing. All control and synchronisation during testing is performed via dedicated TCP/IP channel.

The user can easily program the number of tests, period between tests and IP addresses of the remote clients. This allows for automated testing which can be scheduled to run at a convenient time (e.g. overnight) and to multiple remote sites simultaneously.

Graphical User interface

Initial Display for the VoIP-VQT tester

A multi-test setup Window appears on the Monitor when you first run the system

When the add new test button is clicked then the customise test window opens.

VoIP-VQT testing Configuration Options

The Customise test window allows to edit the IP address, reference PESQ file, VoIP protocol (H.323 or SIP), voice codecs (G.711, GSM) and the number of times you want the test to be repeated.

The list of tests to be run can be saved or loaded.

Tests Viewer

This window shows a log of the tests which have been run. Two modes of operation are available, single test or batch test. The saved batch tests can be opened.

PESQ Analysis and Wave Viewer

This window displays the results obtained for the test including: the PESQ scores, filenames and wave files.
